AYCOOPS addresses the lack of of representation for local Artists Journalists and Activists often sidelined by mainstream commercialized media.It decentralises content creation empowering grassroots voices and stories while amplifying the often overlooked contributions of keralas co-operative sector.enabling citizen journalisam and practices ensuring diverse authentic narratives reach the community. Upholding the role and responsibility of media and journalism as the fourth piller of Democracy.

A Real Kerala Youth Brand Media Co-operative Story

AYCOOPS, Asia’s first youth co-operative media production house, was registered and began operations on 06/08/2021 as part of the first 100-day program of the second Pinarayi Vijayan government. On 06/09/2021,Honorable Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the group at the state level in Thiruvananthapuram. Honorable Minister of Co-operation, Mr. V. N. Vasavan, personally visited the AYCOOPS office in Punalur and inaugurated it on 02/12/2022. AYCOOPS has been featured in more than 33 national and Malayalam media outlets.The office was created by purchasing reusable materials and refurbishing them to create office equipment (President’s cabin, Secretary’s cabin, Edit suite).The team, consisting of artists and media professionals, brought a new approach to the work.

AYCOOPS has been involved in several media production projects for both central and state governments and has won numerous awards at the national and state levels. The goal is to provide media services under one roof. Clients can select professionals or groups for complete media projects. Operates with young professionals in a unique style working with a fresh approach in cooperative sector.

AYCOOPS shareholders are our media labours in different working categories.It is working under a bylaw that addresses; Financial Autonomy and Operations Autonomy.Unlike traditional cooperatives, AYCOOPS operates like a start-up with shares and deposits. With 52 shareholders aged 18 to 45 , AYCOOPS fosters a collaborative environment for professionals like Journalist Photographers,Videographers,Graphic Designers,Content writers,Musicians,Directors,Sound Engineers,Art directors,Sculptors,Singers,Voice over Artist,Content creators.

Membership is exclusive to full-time artists,Media Persons and government employees, emphasizing a community-focused approach. AYCOOPS being a new ideation were able to provide with new job opportunities and fixed and undoubted salaries every month to its employees. The society uses new and innovative techniques. If such innovative and regulated cooperative societies are allowed to operate within a rigorous framework, separate from other traditional cooperative societies, it may be beneficial for everyone in the long run.

It has the potential to become the first cooperative society in Media Production in India. A Directors board of 9 members led the society.Could be brought together under one roof and design a new working model which could also be helpful in reducing the cost of the work done when compared to the private sector. We also believe that by emphasizing more on the rural areas of Kerala as well as India,we can bring about changes in the Co-operative sector.

Future Aspirations

Looking ahead, AYCOOPS plans to expand its services and continue innovating within the cooperative sector, emphasizing rural outreach and the development of media colleges. The cooperative has already garnered attention from media outlets and received support from government entities.

Looking forward, AYCOOPS plans to expand its educational outreach by establishing cooperative media colleges and further developing its production capabilities. AYCOOPS exemplifies how a cooperative model can successfully merge creativity and entrepreneurship, providing employment and fostering innovation in Kerala’s media landscape. With its unique approach and diverse offerings, AYCOOPS is not just a cooperative; it’s a movement towards sustainable and inclusive media production.

  4. Food Safety Awareness Short Video for the Food Safety Department, Govt. of Kerala.
  5. Documentary production featuring Kerala’s cooperative societies (Malayalam and English) for the Department of Co-operation, Govt. of Kerala.
  6. Documentary for the Nava Kerala Sadas organized under the second Pinarayi Vijayan government based on Alappuzha-Chengannur in 2023.

  23. AYCOOPS won 1st place in the logo designing competition for Kerala State Employees Welfare Fund Board.
  24. Founder President and Creative Head Mr.P Muhammed Shafi Selected as the media delegate for Platform Cooperative Consortium’s “Roots of Resilience” event held in New York.

  27. Participated in the Coop Pitch competition with 50 teams from South Asian countries in co-operation with Asian youth cooperative media production.
  28. Participated in the National Co-operative Union’s launch of the National Co-operative Database Management. The inauguration was held by the Minister of Home Affairs.
  29. Participated as a media representative for AI Conclave organized by Kerala Department of Industries.
  30. Acknowledged for the article written and video document produced former Secretary of the Department of Co-operation, Mrs. Mini Antony, prepared by AYCOOPS.

  32. Participated in ICA COOP PITCH 2024 media production with cooperatives from South Asia.
  33. Worked as a cooperative journalist for ICA GLOBAL CO-OPERATIVE CONFERENCE 2024 in New Delhi, covering sessions attended by heads of state and interior ministers from four countries.
  34. Received commendations from the Co-operation Department Minister, Secretary, and Registrar for media reporting and interviews conducted.
  35. Documented and live broadcasted the CEOA State Assembly in Angamaly.
  36. Won the first place in the logo designing competition of Kerala state Co-operative employees Welfare Board.
  37. Selected as one of the 20 chosen individuals in India. I Am Present the AYCOOPS is the research paper in 1st youth Research conference of the National Co-operative Union of India 2025.
  38. AYCOOPS research paper has been accepted for the commemorative book publication in conjunction with the CICTAB International Conference Pune 2025.
